Siqui Mola

Siqui Mola

This tiny museum-quality hand-stitched mola depicts four siqui – the tiny birds that fly across the islands, often pursued (unsuccessfully) by crowds of little guna boys.
This mola has some fine details embroidered in.
This is an exceptionally fine mola. The style, fabric, and fading suggest to me that it is older than most of the collection, perhaps from the 1950’s.
